Well...... what has surprised and sort of depressed me has been the hate directed at Jokic by pundits...everyone from Cedric the Entertainer to Jason Hart et al-. And just average fans seem to hate the idea of european and white players being 1 & 2 in the league. As for MVP, which i think is stupid since its not defined what this even means, Id say Jokic is actually pretty far out front. Luka is second and closing. But my god, why the reluctance to call Jokic an all time great. If LBJ had numbers like Jokic there would be far more written about him. Luka gets shorted too. even Giannis is shorted. Shai gets a lot more ink (probably many dont know he's not american either). But canada is *sorta* america. European players dominate right now. And jokic is an all time top ten player in the NBA. And id be happy to call Luka that, too. Giannis is top twenty. Shai is.....close to top 20. He will get there.
look, dont be a jerk. Im not young, certainly, and Ive read and played and coached basketball for forty five years. This is my opinion. There is no history to read -- these are just opinions. Jokic has time to achieve even more. He is a remarkable player. There is a bias from americans against Euro players. Thats clear from this thread. If off the top of my head i had to pick an all time top ten Id have wilt and MJ at the top, they were freaks of nature and in a class of their own. Bird and Magic next, and Tim and Hakeem -- then it gets harder. Russell, Kareem probably, and then take your pick...Jokic, Elgin baylor and Oscar, stockton and/or malone. Everyone has LBJ... and its hard to leave him off but i hate his game. KD and Kobe were wildly overrated,. See...just my opinion and trust me Mr Madison, not that unusual an opinion.
Sorry not trying to be one. Usually when people have a number of current players that high they are 20 years old. Jokic is a great player. To me he needs to do it alot longer to be an all time great. You can hate LBJ game but he nearly won a title with a terrible roster and went to about 8 finals in a row. Disagree on kobe and KD too. Not sure what you mean there is no history to read. There certainly is just like anything else.
